  • Responsible for a $1 million Amphibious Assault Vehicle all its contents including a crew of 4 Marines, crew-served weapons, weapons system (50 Cal, & Mark-19 grenade launcher) and up to 15 Marines at the combat ready
  • Maintained operational vehicle maintenance, radio equipment and deployment readiness
  • Deployment: Operation Continued Hope (Somalia) served under the 2nd Marine Division, 2nd AAV, BN, Alpha Company, 3rd Platoon, 3rd Section, attached to the 24th MEU (SOC) included operations with Special Ops Forces (SOF); “special boat teams,” as part the Inchon Amphibious Ready Group. Heavy armor mission support provided to United Nations Coalition (UNOSOM) forces from India, Pakistan, Egypt and Italy included:
  • Offensive operations; expanded security zones around the airport, shipping port facilities, and frequent mobile patrols in Mogadishu
  • Defensive operations; airport security, port facilities main-gate crowd control for release of humanitarian aid shipments and withdraw of US forces from Somalia.
  • After operations in Somalia, enter the Adriatic Sea in support of Operation Provide Promise and Operation Deny Flight in Bosnia and Herzegovina and trained with coalition forces from France, Greece and Israel for the remaining three-months of deployment.
  • Re-deployment: Operation Support Democracy (Haiti) 24th MEU (SOC) show-of-force off the coast of Haiti and trained for offensive operations. Engaged in a two-day mock landing and evacuation exercise on Vieques Island in the Caribbean Sea.
  • Deployment: Operation Provide Promise (Former Yugoslavia) 2nd Marine Division, 2nd AAV, BN, attached to the 26th MEU; Engaged Operation Sharp Guard Yugoslavia amphibious show-of-force, participated in ceremonies marking the 50th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France and trained with coalition forces from Spain, France, Greece and Israel during the six-month deployment.
